How exciting! The Israeli thriller series THE GERMAN celebrates its world premiere at the Series Mania Festival on 23 March 2025. I had the great pleasure of working on the scripts by Moshe Zonder (FAUDA) and Ronit Weiss-Berkowitz (THE GIRL FROM OSLO), translating scenes set in Germany and their dialogue into contemporary colloquial German. The gripping story about an undercover agent (Oliver Masucci) who hunts Nazis is partly set in 1970s Germany and is taking part in the 2025 edition of the international competition of the French television festival. Thanks again to Gil Formats (Assaf Gil + Roei Shtrauber) for this challenging and fulfilling task!
Family comedy movie for TeamWERK
Since the end of 2024, I’ve been working on the family comedy TV movie LAOTIC CHRISTMAS – together with the Stuttgart production TeamWERK. The story revolves around prejudices, globalization, generational conflict and misguided communication – in a witty and heartfelt way.
The TV movie has already been pitched to a public broadcaster. We’ll know more soon…
Translation of Israeli thriller series
For the Israeli production Gil Formats, Lionsgate Television and Yes TV, I am translating the dialogues for the historic thriller series THE GERMAN (wt) into German – written by Moshe Zonder & Ronit Weiss-Berkowitz and directed by Gabriel Bibliowicz. The story, set in the 1970s, takes place partly in Munich and in German, for which I translated the dialogues colloquially (like Tom Tykwer for Tarantino’s “Inglorious Basterds”). Filming started on 7 July 2024, with Oliver Masucci in the lead role as an undercover Nazi hunter against his will. Exciting!
Translating DINNER FOR FIVE for Amazon
At long last, the prequel to the New Year’s Eve comedy classic DINNER FOR ONE is on its way: DINNER FOR FIVE is a production by Ufa Fiction and Amazon Studios who hired me again for the translation of their comedy series. The screenplays were written by Tommy Wosch who adapted Michael Koglin’s original novel DINNER FOR ONE – KILLER FOR FIVE.
The series is starring Alicia von Rittberg, Kostja Ullmann, Moritz Bleibtreu, and Frederick Lau.
Translation for Sky Studios
For years I’ve been translating the biting political comedy series CHAMELEON by Christian Jeltsch on behalf of Isarstraßenfilm: turbulent adventures from the nebulous world of international lobbyists and svengalis in Berlin, Brussels and elsewhere. I certainly enjoyed translating it into English. The series will be dropped on ARD from 14 June 2024. It was originally produced for Sky Studios.
